Meine ersten Malereien wurden von der leeren, weiten Landschaft Vlie- lands inspiriert. Ich malte leere Landschaften, horizontale Gliederungen, in denen Ruhe und Raum das Thema waren. Als ich mich vom \u201aHorizont\u2018 verabschiedete traten Andeutungen von Wolken und Vegetation in den Vordergrund, die sich sofort zu eigenst\u00e4ndigen, vom Ursprung getrenn- ten Formen abstrahierte. Als ich mich nicht mehr von den R\u00e4ndern der Leinwand einschr\u00e4nken lie\u00df entstanden die ersten Wandobjekte, die es mir erm\u00f6glichten, meiner Arbeit Form und Materie hinzuzuf\u00fcgen. Ich verwendete extrudiertes Polystyrol (XPS) als Basis und \u00fcberzog es mit Schichten aus Papier, Gips und\/oder Farbe. Zurzeit lasse ich mich von Karton aus alten Verpackungskisten inspirieren und fertige gro\u00dfe und kleine Wandobjekte an. In all den Jahren sind Ruhe und Minimalismus erhalten geblieben.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Die Kartons bekomme ich von Freunden und Gesch\u00e4ften aus der Umgebung. Sie wurden benutzt, etwas wurde darin verpackt, transportiert, es hat eine Reise hinter sich. Sie haben Knickspuren, Kerben und Kleber\u00e4nder. Sie sind besch\u00e4digt. Das Material fordert mich heraus, neue Formen zu schaffen, mini- malistische, ruhige Objekte. Ich arbeite unter anderem mit Acryl und Oilstick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In meiner Arbeit versuche ich, meine eigene Welt zu schaffen, indem ich nach Ausgewogenheit, aber auch nach Spannung und Unvollkommenheit suche, nicht auff\u00e4llig, sondern ruhig und ged\u00e4mpft. Das gibt jedem Objekt seinen eigenen Charakter, bescheiden und informell. Dies ist meine Welt, dies ist, wer ich bin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In search of the ultimate shape<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am looking for the ultimate shape, a shape that represents nothing but everything says. Within my minimalist visual language I create modest but powerful shapes, shapes that take their place in the space. My work is about shape, colour and matter, tranquillity is the theme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My first paintings were inspired by the empty, vast landscape of Vlieland. I painted empty landscapes, horizontal divisions in which peace and space were the subject. When I said goodbye to the \u2018horizon\u2019 suggestions of clouds and vegetation took centre stage, which immediately abstracted into independent shapes that were separate from their origin. When I no longer allowed myself to be limited by the edges of the canvas the first wall objects were created that allowed me to add shape and matter to my work. I used extruded polystyrene (XPS) as a base and covered it with layers of paper, plaster and\/or paint. At the moment I am inspired by cardboard from old packaging boxes and make large and small wall objects. In all these years, tranquillity and minimalism have remained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I get the boxes from friends and shops in the area. They have been used, something has been packed in them, transported, it has travelled a distance. There are fold lines, nicks and adhesive edges. It\u2019s damaged. The material challenges me to create new shapes, minimalist, tranquil objects. I work with acrylic and alkyd paint and oil stick, among other things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In my work I try to create my own world, looking for balance but also tension, imperfection, not flashy but quiet and subdued. This gives each object its own character, modest and informal. This is my world, this is who I am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
