\n3D. Contemporary Explorations in Concrete Sculpture<\/strong><\/p>\n

The exhibition, curated together with Cologne-based artist Ivo Ringe, focuses on the present and future of plastic arts from the \u201cconcrete\u201d section. It traces promising current trends in the work of international artists who are continuing and breathing new life into the \u201cArt Concrete\u201d movement, which began around one hundred years ago.<\/p>\n

They explore the fundamentals of the sculptural genre – such as space, form, weight, gravity, tension, balance – and the principles of concrete art: even if these works rely on the primacy of nonobjectivity that was established at the beginning of the 20th century, references to reality are now conceivable. The still reduced formal language goes far beyond geometric bodies such as cubes, cuboids and spheres – also thanks to the openness to new materials with new possibilities. Techniques introduced by the ancestors such as moulding, folding or assemblage are developed further. Movement, change and dynamics – whether in the creative process or as potential – are central themes.<\/p>\n

Extraordinary technical and aesthetic quality and stringently conceived concepts, occasionally presented with a certain sense of humour, come together in the works on display – a refreshing experience for the mind and senses.<\/p>\n

3D <\/i>is part of the exhibition series Hellweg Konkret III. <\/em>For the third time, cultural institutions from the \u201eHellweg\u201c region are joining forces to showcase concrete art in ten exhibitions from spring 2024 to autumn 2025. Hellweg Konkret III<\/em> is jointly dedicated to the theme of “Space”. www.hellweg-konkret.de<\/a> provides extensive information on this cooperation project.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
