I was standing on a colored hill in Iceland, on soft, still unconsolidated rock. What means does nature use to create color? There is no pigment in my paper works, this blue does not exist in any paint tube, it simply does not exist to begin with. The material consists of mineral colorants that are exposed to chemical processes and the influence of daylight in the paper. Forces within the material release crystalline properties. My application method is image-generating – I apply the paint to the paper fibers with a pipette. The crystalline is reflected in the paint material and later appears as a grid or net structure.
